Because the focus of Heen Book is local Norwegian-American history focused upon a specific geographical area, research depends upon primary sources which are often privately held.   These primary sources include letters, postcards, notebooks, financial records, memorabilia, scrapbooks and photographs.  

Whenever possible, these records are digitized and copies provided to the families involved.
